2.3 Brembo 36mm

    BMW R50/75/90/100 1970-79

There is a spring and check-ball in the bottom of the rod that must be removed. Also the top of the rod must be cut off to increase flow.

REMOVE THE CHECK BALL AND SPRING

To remove the spring and check ball, clamp the damping rod with a shaft holder or v-notch vice jaw (TMVJ 065). Heat the rod with a torch at the adapter near the 13mm hex.

Remove and discard the check ball and spring. Use Loctite on the thread for assembly.

MOD THE TOP OF THE DAMPING ROD

Cut the uppermost protrusion off the top of the damping rod just below the outlet holes, just above the chamfer. Clean and deburr.

ENLARGE THE COMPRESSION HOLES

There are (8) compression holes stock. Their pattern varies slightly between models, stock size is 4 to 5mm. Drill out the (8) existing compression holes to 6mm (1/4").

ADAPTERS

36mm forks use FPEV AD3308 P adapters that are Incouded in the BMW Gold Valve  Emulator Kit#: FEGV S3308

The completed assembly.

ASSEMBLE THE FORK

It is best to insert the damping rod assembly into the fork tube from the bottom. The piston rings tend to catch on the fork cap thread if installed from the top.

To more easily seal the rod in the Bottom End Cap use a HMWC 0813 copper washer on the inside of the fork. HMWC 4249 copper washers are available for the Bottom End Cap.

We recommend a lock washer under the original nut.

See Standard Emulator Instructions for fork spring preload and oil level.
